WALD

WALD - Forest - is a series of paintings from 2022. The paintings move between abstraction and the non-representational.

"The subject of "WALD" came out of walking truly hundreds of kilometres during the Corona episode. What fascinates me about the forest is nature as pure sculpture. I photographed endless series of forests and trees. What interests me are the rhythms in the arrangements, the variations in position, placement and optical weight - sometimes very slight, then again very large. This series is an engagement with the forest as a non-representational structure, and its transfer into a view that for me is non-representational, in my own medium of painting. A recurring theme for me throughout this series is abstraction at the border of the non-representational. Is it still an abstracted motif, or already wholly non-representational?" Tobias Post
