ARTIST PROFILE

Tobias Post (1969, Bochum) Digital light artist and painter, member of BBK Westfalen

T. Post develops interactive works that occupy space and respond to the audience in real time through 3D sensors. Their basis is programmed, generative algorithms. T. Post's artistic roots lie in informal and non-representational painting. He takes up pop art and concrete art and sets them in motion.

The focus is on independent artistic work of his own. T. Post combines painterly experience with precise technical execution. Colour, surface, grid and rhythm become experienceable as moving systems; through interaction, viewers become part of what happens in the image. The aim is a clear, robust presentation for museum, institutional and commercial contexts.

Of particular note is the exhibition at the Museum Westfälische Salzwelten (Bad Sassendorf) with the artists' group Hellweg Konkret.

Since 2022 artistic practice has been at the centre of T. Post's work; technology is used deliberately as an artistic tool.

Member of BBK Westfalen since 2025.

Studied computer science with art as a subsidiary subject at TU Dortmund; left in favour of founding his own company.

Many years of practice as a developer in real-time 3D, image and video and interactive systems; that knowledge forms the technical foundation of the installations today.

2009 founded NOTIONCUBE Software GmbH (software workshop).

2022 renamed CUBE4DEV GmbH - art studio and digital studio.

Technical background

Real-time systems (among others C++, Qt), 2D/3D/video/audio. Digital installations for sensor-based interaction and generative software.
